Essential Rules for Raising Confident Sons and Empowered Daughters: Are You Teaching Them All?

Parenting is a sacred responsibility, where we strive to equip our children with the skills and values they need to navigate the journey of life. As our sons and daughters grow, they will encounter both triumphs and challenges, making it crucial for us to instill in them a set of fundamental principles. This article delves into two distinct sets of rules: rules to teach your son and rules to teach your daughter. By imparting these valuable life lessons, we aim to guide our children towards becoming confident, compassionate, and empowered individuals ready to face whatever lies ahead. So, let us explore these important guidelines that can shape their lives and empower them to reach their full potential.

Never shake a man’s hand sitting down.

Don’t enter a pool by the stairs.

The man at the BBQ Grill is the closest thing to a king.

In a negotiation, never make the first offer.

Request the late check-out.

When entrusted with a secret, keep it.

Hold your heroes to a higher standard.

Return a borrowed car with a full tank of gas.

Play with passion or don’t play at all…

When shaking hands, grip firmly and look them in the eye.

Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.

If you need music on the beach, you’re missing the point.

Carry two handkerchiefs. The one in your back pocket is for you. The one in your breast pocket is for her.

You marry the girl, you marry her family.

Be like a duck. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like crazy underneath.

Experience the serenity of traveling alone.

Never be afraid to ask out the best looking girl in the room.

Never turn down a breath mint.

A sport coat is worth 1000 words.

Try writing your own eulogy. Never stop revising.

Thank a veteran. Then make it up to him.

Eat lunch with the new kid.

After writing an angry email, read it carefully. Then delete it.

Ask your mom to play. She won’t let you win.

Manners make the man.

Give credit. Take the blame.

Stand up to Bullies. Protect those bullied.

Write down your dreams.

Take time to snuggle your pets, they love you so much and are always happy to see you.

Be confident and humble at the same time.

If ever in doubt, remember whose son you are and REFUSE to just be ordinary!

Make your bed every day, even if it’s right before you get in it.

Don’t wear holey underwear…in case you’re in an accident and they cut your clothes off.

Travel light through life. Keep only what you need.

It’s okay to cry when you’re hurt. It’s also okay to smash (some) things; but, wash your face,

clean your mess, and get up off the floor when you’re done. You don’t belong down there.

If you’re going to curse, be clever. If you’re going to curse in public, know your audience.

Seek out the people and places that resonate with your soul.

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

5-second rule. It’s just dirt. There are worse things in a fast food cheeseburger.

Happiness is not a permanent state. Wholeness is. Don’t confuse these.

If you’re staying more than one night, unpack your bag.

Never walk through an alley alone.

Be less sugar, more spice, and only as nice as you’re able to without compromising yourself.

Can’t is a cop-out.

Hold your heroes to a high standard. Be your own hero.

If you can’t smile with your eyes, don’t smile. Insincerity is nothing to aspire to.

Never lie to yourself.

Your body, your rules.

If you have an opinion, you better know why.

Practice your passions.

Ask for what you want. The worst thing they can say is no.

Wish on stars and dandelions, then get to work to make them happen.

Stay as sweet as you are.

Fall in love often. Particularly with ideas, art, music, literature, food and far-off places.

Fall hard and forever in love with nothing but yourself.

Say Please, Thank You, and Pardon Me, whenever the situation warrants it.

Reserve “I’m sorry” for when you truly are.

Naps are for grown-ups, too.

Question everything, except your own intuition.

You have enough. You are enough.

You are amazing! Don’t let anyone ever make you feel you are not. If someone does….walk away. You deserve better.

No matter where you are, you can always come home.

Be happy and remember your roots, family is EVERYTHING.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

No one will ever love you more than I do.

Be kind; treat others how you would like them to treat you.

If in doubt, remember whose daughter you are and straighten your crown.
